Radicchi White Elephant Celebration

We enjoyed another AWESOME holiday celebration with our fabulous supper club friends. Thank you for the fun times and the fellowship with friends Mark and Rebecca. It was great snuggling with Sophia and seeing all of the kids who are growing WAY TOO FAST. :-)

Happy New Year!!

New Year Myspace Glitter Graphics
We would like to wish all of our friends a family a wonderful New Year with all of the blessings God has in store for all of us. We were blessed with the opportunity to be able to visit friends and family in Ohio and Pennsylvania this holiday season. It was great to reconnect with everyone.

We had ten hours of quiet solitude on our way back home to reflect on the year. The kids stayed in PA for one more week while we prepare for back to school and other upcoming activities. Thanks Mom and Dad for allowing the kids to play in the snow and with their cousins.

Our family resolutions are...
1. Get our house organized
2. Go to the gym at least 3 times a week
3. Take time for friends and family

I think these three goals are attainable if we focus and stay on task.

Be sure you take the time to look around and realize just how blessed you are in life. It is so easy to focus on the negative, sometimes we forget to look at all of the positives in our lives. May we be "eagles" and rise above all the negativity.

A special blessing to you and your family for 2008 from the Soto Family!

Spoiled "Under 30" Crowd

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious stories about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways.. yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way I was going to tell kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!
But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy!

I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a Utopia! And I hate to say it, but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!

1. When I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!!

2. There was no email! We had to actually write somebody a letter ...with a pen! Then you had to walk way down and across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

3. There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and mess it all up!

4. We didn't have fancy junk like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it! Can u say emergency break-thru's..until the operators caught on!

5. And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

6. We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like Space Invaders and asteroids and the graphics were horrible! Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and
harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

7. Sure, we had Cable Television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no onscreen menu! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on!

And there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying? We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons!

8. And we didn't have Microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up, we had to use the stove or go build a fire ... imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid JiffyPop thing or a pan with HOT oil and Real popcorn kernels and shake it all over the stove forever like an idiot.

9. When we were on the phone with our friends and our parents walked-in, we were stuck to the wall with a cord, a 7 foot cord that ran to the phone- not the phone base, the actual phone. We barely had enough length to sit on the floor and still be able to twirl the phone cord in our fingers. If you suddenly had to go to the bathroom - guess what we had to do..... hang up and talk to them later.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled .

You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd

Christmas Myspace Animated GifWhat a great time of year! We are swamped with wonderful invitations from great friends! I am looking forward to spending time with loved ones this season. God has richly blessed us this year. It seems like yesterday we were celebrating the New Year! Wow, time flies when you're busy with life.
My prayer is that we savor each moment together this coming year. Family and friends are such a sweet gift from God. Taking the time to reconnect with friends will be our goal this year.
Our family's wish for you would be that you slow down and enjoy every moment of your life. Don't let the busy rush of everyday life cause you to miss the most precious moments.

Jacqueline's Eleventh Birthday

Our precious baby girl turned eleven today! She is growing up to be quite a beautiful young lady. We went shopping earlier this week with Grandma Shidemantle's excellent gift. (Thank you Grandama!) This shopping trip was quite an eye opener for me. I thought I was fairly fashionable, but learned better on this trip!! We picked up some "Rocket Dog" shoes. (Apparently they are in style. I had never heard of them! I'm getting OLD) She also picked out several beautiful outfits and gorgeous jewelry on our fun shopping spree.
Jackie was gifted with diamond earrings from her father! She is growing up so quickly. (I may have to borrow them from her!) What a precious milestone in her young life.....her first diamonds from her Daddy!! I don't even want to think about diamonds she will receive later in life. Boo Hoo!!!
I thank God every day for bringing our sweet girl into our life. God has truly blessed our family.
Happy Birthday Jackie!
Love your Mom and Dad

Book of the Month

Joel Osteen's new book is my book of the month. My mother called me telling me about this awesome pastor on television who has a new book out. She got it on CD so she could listen to it on her way to and from different destination. She LOVED it and sent me the money to go out and buy it! (She is always giving me the BEST tips.) I'll let you know what I think once I get into the book.

Veteran's Day

Words cannot express how important
those who serve our country are.
Their courage and determination have
guaranteed the freedoms we enjoy.
This year, I am especially moved by
and thankful for all that these
men and women do.
They will never be forgotten.

Happy Veteran's Day
