Book of the month

I've been enjoying a book that I've had for years, but just recently pulled from my massive bookshelf! The title is Not Quite Burned Out: But Crispy Around the Edges The author of this book is Sharon Draper who was a teacher of the year in 1997. I have several of her books, but this one is very pertanant to my life right now! Let me know if you would like to borrow the book! I'll send it through county mail to any of my teacher friends! (after I finish it, of course :-)

Preplanning OVER
We made it through preplanning! Thank you Melissa for taking such great care of the kids this week. I've been on overload since Angel has been out of town during this very stressful time of year. The up side of this situation is that since I'm looping up with my class, all the stress and worry about my class is nonexistant! We didn't do sneak a peek. Instead, we all met at Jumpits and had a wonderful time together. I had a parent meeting while the kids played! All of my volunteer positions have been filled. We will have an amazing year.
If you can think of any fun or interesting ideas for my looping class, please share.

Smartboard Installed!!!
Today I was given the first session of my training on my brand new Smart Board! It was amazing! The trainer was a parent of a child I had in Fifth Grade, who is now a Junior in HIGH SCHOOL!!! Wow, I'm getting old! If you ever want a demonstration, or just want to play, let me know and I can show you the basics of Smart Board Technology! I've been given a great opportunity, being one of four in my school to receive this new technology! Our applications were voted on during the Spring Retreat! My application was a WINNER!! I always tell my students how important it is to be a decent writer. This proves that point!

Enjoying our summer
It has been such a great experience to be able to spend two weeks together, traveling and just being together. You really get to know each other in a 17 foot camping trailer! The kids both said this has been the best summer vacation EVER. We were given this awesome opportunity at an excellent time. The kids are in between activities (sporting and other-wise). Angel was able to take off two weeks. Of course, the best thing about teaching is June, July, and August (at least that is what they tell me). Although I have been meeting my class at the library every other week and I have planned an overnight trip to the Atlanta Zoo for my class that I am looping up with to third grade. Learning doesn't stop for the summer!
